How to speed up or slow down audio without changing the pitch
Drop in an audio file, drag the slider to the speed you want, anywhere from 0.5x (half speed) to 2x (double speed), and download the result as an MP3. It works with any common audio format, with files up to about 100 MB.
Why change the speed? Speeding up a long recording saves time when you review lectures, meetings, interviews or podcasts. Slowing one down helps you transcribe a difficult passage, learn a song or practise a language. This tool changes only the speed: the pitch stays natural, so a sped-up voice does not turn squeaky and a slowed-down one does not turn deep, which is what happens with a simple change of playback speed.
Starting points: 1.25x to 1.5x is comfortable for most spoken audio, 2x is fast but usable for familiar material, and 0.75x to 0.5x is useful for transcription. If you want to change the pitch on purpose, for example to make a voice deeper or higher, use the pitch changer instead.
