About FileWizy

FileWizy is a collection of free online tools for preparing your photos, videos and audio: compressing, converting, trimming, merging, resizing and more. Everything runs directly in your web browser, with no software to install and no account to create.

Why we built it

Most online converters work by uploading your file to someone else's server, processing it there and sending a result back. That is slow for large files, and it means a copy of your personal photos, videos or recordings sits on a machine you do not control. We wanted a simpler and more respectful approach.

FileWizy does the work on your own device instead. Modern browsers are powerful enough to compress an image or trim a video locally, using your computer or phone's own processing power. The video and audio tools use FFmpeg, a widely used open-source engine, compiled to run inside the browser. Your files are never uploaded to our servers, which also means there is no waiting for an upload to finish before the work begins.

What you can do here

The site is available in English, Spanish and German.

Guides and articles

Alongside the tools, we publish practical guides in our blog: how to shrink a photo without hurting quality, which image format to choose, how to prepare a video for WhatsApp, and similar everyday problems. Our aim is to explain the reasoning behind each choice so you can make good decisions even when you are not using our tools.

How the site is funded

FileWizy is free to use. The site is supported by advertising and uses privacy-conscious analytics to understand which tools people need. Advertising and analytics cookies are only enabled if you accept them in the consent banner, and you can read the details in our privacy policy.

Who is behind FileWizy

FileWizy is run by the FileWizy Team. You can reach us through the contact page, and the legal notice has the legal information.

Honest limits

Because the tools run on your device, performance depends on it. Very large video files need a lot of memory, and older phones may struggle. Where a limit applies, each tool page says so. If something does not work as expected, we want to hear about it: see the contact page.
