How does video stabilization work in the browser?
Shaky handheld footage can be smoothed out with motion analysis that detects and compensates for unwanted camera movement between frames. This tool applies FFmpeg's built-in deshake filter directly in your browser, so your video is never uploaded to a server. Drop in a video, click Stabilize video and download the steadier version. There are no settings to adjust.
It works best on moderate shake: handheld walking, small vibrations or the tremor of a phone held at arm's length. This is a lightweight, single-pass correction, so very extreme shake may still show some residual motion. For heavy shake, a desktop video editor with two-pass stabilization may give better results.
The output keeps the same resolution as your original video, and the audio track is preserved because only the picture is processed. Correcting movement can leave some softness near the edges of the frame, which is usually subtle on moderately shaky clips. Compare the original and the result before you share.
Files up to about 200 MB work, depending on your device's memory. Once the footage is steady you can cut it with the video trimmer, reduce its size with the video compressor or turn a moment into a loop with the video to GIF converter.
