How does browser-based voice recording work?
This voice recorder uses your browser's built-in microphone access. Click Start, allow microphone access when your browser asks, speak and click Stop. The recording downloads as a WebM audio file, a format supported by all modern browsers and most audio players and editors.
Use it for voice memos, quick notes, narration for a video, practising a speech or a short interview. Everything happens locally on your device and nothing is uploaded, and the recording length is limited only by your device's memory. It uses your device's default microphone; to use a different one, change the default input device in your browser or system settings before you start.
For a better recording, choose a quiet room (soft furnishings reduce echo), stay about a hand's width from the microphone, and record a few seconds of silence at the start. Headphones with a built-in microphone usually sound better than a laptop's microphone.
Afterwards you can clean the audio up: the audio enhancer evens out the volume and can bring out the voice, the audio trimmer removes silence at the start and end, and the audio converter turns the WebM file into MP3, WAV, OGG or M4A.
