How to add text to a video
Upload a video, type your text, choose where it goes (top, center or bottom), pick a colour and a font size, and download the video with the text burned in. It works with MP4, MOV and WebM files up to about 200 MB, depending on your device's memory.
Why burn the text into the video instead of using captions? Caption and subtitle files only show up in players that support them, and social platforms often strip them out. Burning the text into the video frame guarantees it looks exactly the same everywhere the video is played or reposted. It is also the simplest way to add a title, a credit or a short label to a clip without opening a full video editor: the tool re-encodes the video with the text permanently in the picture.
Limits to know: the tool adds a single line of text, which stays fixed in the position you choose for the whole video, with no animation. If you need a second caption, run the tool again on the result. Keep the text short and use a colour that contrasts with the footage; the bottom position is the most natural for captions and the top for titles.
Everything is processed in your browser, so your video is never uploaded. Before adding text, you can cut the clip with the video trimmer or reframe it for social media with the social video cropper.
